Because of Peter Nitsch's work on FlashTerm, there is now a way to connect to BBSes directly from your web browser!
Please note at this time:- The terminal type is ANSI
- File transfers are not supported
If you want Commodore color/graphics while using a
non-Commodore computer:
- use CGTerm, available for Windows, Linux and Macintosh.
- Key and symbol placement mimics the Commodore 64 keyboard
- Tap Esc (accessing the menu), then D to "dial" an address. A space instead of a colon is required between the address and port
- PgUp and PgDn scroll up and down in the buffer
- Home pauses text output, any alphanumeric key resumes
- Shift-Home clears input boxes (such as the address)
- use VICE 2.2; also available for Windows, Linux and Macintosh.
- It can connect to a BBS using RS232 emulation through the user port, or a high-speed RS232 interface on the expansion port
- This has the advantage of being able to use any native C64/128 terminal program you wish.
User Guide
Download BBS-Guide-9-2009.pdf (461 kB), an in-progress user guide for my BBS. System-specificity aside, it is still a good resource to have when using other Image BBSs. Any feedback is useful.I'll probably put this up in Google Docs soon as well.
